THE ATTRACTION OF A MOUNTAIN is a response to Schiehallion in the Scottish Highlands, which was the site of an experiment in 1774 which measured the gravitational pull of pendulums by the mountain, as part of an experiment to determine the mass of the mountain as well as the earth itself.

The piece is made from ground quartzite taken from the mountain’s summit.
