Art x Geology Workshop at Fitzwilliam Museum
For Young People aged 16 - 25

As part of the public programme accompanying the Made in Ancient Egypt exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum, I designed and delivered a geology-themed printmaking workshop for young people. The session explored the material intelligence of ancient craftspeople, linking geology, archaeology and contemporary creative practice.
Participants examined geological thin sections under microscopes alongside specimens from the Sedgwick Museum’s fossil handling collection, using them as starting points for lino and gelli plate printing.
Through experimental making and scientific enquiry, the workshop invited participants to reconsider stone not simply as a raw resource, but as a record of deep time and hidden stories of the planet.
